Live from the UJC office in Manhattan, David finally weighs in on Gaza

I should say first of all that the Facebook version of me has been waging a private war against people who are “donating their Facebook statuses” to some website that pumps Qassam rocket count updates into their status automatically. It’s silly. I’m just saying.

Back here in the rear recesses of the UJC office, in the four cubicles shared by Limmud NY, we just received word of a prayer session (in progress !) in Conference Room 1, where UJC employees are praying for something regarding the ongoing clusterfuck in Israel/Gaza.

I went, naturally. And I was full of skepticism, naturally. I popped my eye in through a cracked door, saw people sitting around the room. I guy was reading something. I got a weird vibe and left.

So I’d just like to reiterate my dubious discomfort with  group prayer regarding current events and medical conditions. I know, I know; it’s litrugically conservative jackasses like me that are keeping Jewish prayer from being relevant blah blah blah blah blah.

Gag me.

Amen. Selah.

I’m sorry if I’m misunderstanding, but are you saying there shouldn’t be kavannah in prayer, only kevah?

David doesn’t like kavannah… it’s too mystical for him :)

It’s not about kavanah. It’s about intercessory prayer.

And we all know that I increasingly talk out of my ass on this blog without giving as much prior through to what I’m saying as I should. At least that’s how I’ve felt this week.
